We’re thrilled to announce the launch of our new dignityinschool.scot — a vibrant digital space all about dignity and the UNCRC in Scottish schools!
With content and resources developed with children, young people, and educators, this site will help you explore what dignity really means in the classroom, the playground, and across school life. It’s full of real voices, creative expressions, and practical ideas — all designed to inspire a culture of respect, care, and rights in education.
Dignity is kindness and love. We have the right to dignity because I am human.
Member of Children’s Parliament
Dignity is a core value of Children’s Parliament and a fundamental principle of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). It’s about being treated with respect, having your voice heard, and being valued as a human being — every day, in every space.
But how do we make dignity a lived experience in school? This hub sets out to answer that question by sharing the insights, hopes, and experiences of those who know school best: children and young people themselves.
On the Dignity in School Hub, you will find:
The Dignity in School Hub is for everyone who cares about creating better schools for children to learn, grow, and express themselves — from pupils and teachers to parents, policymakers, and rights practitioners.
We’re so proud to share this work and invite you to explore the website at dignityinschool.scot. We hope it encourages thoughtful conversations, sparks new ideas, and supports action to ensure every child experiences dignity and Children’s Rights in their education.
