Introducing our new Director

We are delighted to announce that Dr Louise Hill joined Children’s Parliament as our new Director on 6th May 2025.

Dr Louise Hill to join Children's Parliament as Director

Louise joins Children’s Parliament from Children First, where she was Head of Policy, Evidence and Impact. She brings substantial experience of the charity sector along with a commitment to ensuring children’s human rights are realised in all aspects of children’s lives.

Ann Henderson, Chair of Children’s Parliament, commented: “I am delighted that Louise is joining us as our new Director. Louise impressed us through the recruitment process with her clear focus and strategic vision that we are sure will support Children’s Parliament’s continued development and impact.”

On her appointment, Louise said: “I am excited to be taking up this wonderful opportunity to lead the work of such a respected organisation. I am passionate about the unique role Children’s Parliament plays in supporting a cultural shift in environments in which children live, learn and play and which sees children’s human rights being realised. There are many challenges for the sector and I am looking forward to joining the team to listen, learn and work together to ensure Children’s Parliament continues to inspire and make a difference in the lives of children across Scotland.”

After a period of handover, founding Director Cathy McCulloch OBE will leave Children’s Parliament at the end of May. Cathy said: “It’s no small thing to hand over the reins of Children’s Parliament after more than 30 years of seeing it grow to become the organisation it is today. However, I am very happy to be handing over to Louise who is so widely respected by me and many across the sector. I know Louise will carry the legacy of the past 30 years with her as she supports the next phase of Children’s Parliament’s journey.”
