It’s up to you, me and all of us.
Member of Children’s Parliament
Since 2008, Children’s Parliament has ensured that children’s voices are part of climate action and education in Scotland. Children have helped shape Scotland’s response to the climate crisis through participation in projects and events such as Scotland’s Climate Assembly, COP26, The Moment, Learning for Sustainability, and the Child Human Rights Defenders programme.
The climate crisis is not just an environmental issue, it is a children’s human rights issue. Every plan to address it must consider the rights, perspectives, and needs of children.
Children have the right to be informed, to share their opinions, and to actively participate in decisions that affect their present and future lives, ensuring their voices shape meaningful action to mitigate the climate crisis.

Children across Scotland have helped shape climate crisis education, influence the Learning for Sustainability curriculum, and make schools more sustainable, contributing to the Scottish Government’s Target 2030 plan. Find out more here.
Children across Scotland have played an active role in shaping the country’s response to the climate crisis through participation in national and global projects and events. Their voices have influenced decision-makers and helped bring children’s perspectives into climate policy and action.
Members of the Children’s Parliament have collaborated in designing a range of resources and toolkits. These materials are intended to help other children understand climate issues, respond effectively, and make their voices heard about the changes they want to see.
