Fife Groups
With the support of Fife Council (Fairer Scotland funding) we have facilitated 2 MCP (Members of the Children’s Parliament) groups in Fife:
Our first group: Kirkcaldy/Levenmouth 2007 – 2011
MCPs from Kirkcaldy/Levenmouth attended the group we established in 2007. These MCPs are now in secondary school and have recently finished the final year of their group programme. The MCPs designed their programme for their final year which included making a short film on children’s rights, an arts installation and developing and delivering children’s rights workshops for primary age children in their communities.

Our second group: Cowdenbeath/Lochgelly meeting since 2010
MCPs from Cowdenbeath/Lochgelly attend the group established in 2010. In year 1 of their programme – The Tree of Life – the children learned about their rights and used CP themes to engage in reflection about their lives, communities and aspirations for the future. Now in Year 2 on the theme of Bards and Artists MCPs focus on aspects of children’s lives which they would like to influence and change
- The DVD - Who We Are – follows the first 6 months of the group, culminating in the exhibition of the groups papier mache models which present their aspirations for the future. Watch the DVD on the left
- Working with Creative Art Works MCPs created a mural. The mural is both the story of their first year together and represents their views on children’s lives in Scotland today. See images from the mural in our Fife Groups GALLERY
